our story
The Checchi Angelo shipyard founded in 1980 is located in Via Porto Pantaneto in Massarosa, adjacent to the Pantaneto canal connected with both the Massaciuccoli lake and the sea via the Burlamacca canal.
Already here for decades all the classic boats of the Lake of Massaciuccoli were built and still take place, from the smaller "Barchino" THE ORGINAL that today is used in the "Madonna del Lago" regatta in Massaciuccoli, to the hunting boats and fishing and the famous "Barchetti", work boats for freight transport.
All these buildings are strictly in wood.
Over the years the yard has evolved and moved on to marine constructions, but its specialty is naval carpentry, maintaining the maritime typologies and traditions suitable for the renovation of vintage boats with all its peculiarities, respecting designs and shapes for trees, booms, bowsprit and all that originality requires.
Today the Checchi Shipyard has reached the 3rd generation.
Nicola Checchi together with his father and sister carries on in a professional and innovative way, always linked to the fundamental characteristic craftsmanship that regulates the craft of carpenters.
